ACWA OOHC Education Research Survey Term 3, 2009

In 2008, the Association of Childrens Welfare Agencies (ACWA) together with some of its member agencies identified that there was a lack of research into educational outcomes for children in out of home care (OOHC). Anecdotal evidence suggests that children in care: don’t perform as well in schools as their peers; have more changes in schools; are more likely to be suspended or excluded from school; and are less likely to continue in education past the compulsory school age.
