ACWA's Response to the Labor Party’s NSW Child Protection Discussion Paper (June 2015)

ACWA acknowledges that the issues presented in the Discussion Paper are serious and complex. These are issues that must be seen within the wider context of the range of judicial powers and child protection policies currently in place in NSW to protect children. ACWA is cautious about the introduction of new legislative powers to automatically remove future children from a parent with a previous conviction for a serious offence against their own child. Maximising the effectiveness of current legislation in practice is suggested as a strong alternative. View full document
