ACWA Responds to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse - OOHC Consultation Paper
The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse released its Consultation Paper for out-of-home care (OOHC) on 8 March 2016.
ACWA spent just over a month consulting its member agencies, other key stakeholders, researchers and ACWA staff before collating its response to the wide-ranging 176 page Consultation Paper.
The Best Practice Forum held on Monday 11 April was one of the most in depth components of these consultations. Commissioner Robert Fitzgerald spoke at the forum. The Commissioner’s presentation was followed by consultation workshops focusing on the broad areas of prevention, identification and response to child sexual abuse in the OOHC context.
This forum provided an opportunity for member agencies to provide face-to-face feedback as well as discuss and raise issues together. This assisted ACWA to ensure a strong sector voice was included in the submission.
ACWA would like to thank all member agencies involved in this consultation.
